1    OUR Australian Prices . . . are subject to change without notice - due to Exchange Rate Variations, "ad hoc" freight fuel surcharges and to a much lesser extent minor variations in Price from our Suppliers
normally minor ( a few % ) adjusted 6 monthly or annually

It's a common misconception ! . . .
 How come Internet Prices are always cheaper than what we "eventually" pay in Australia ?
Firstly . . . these Prices are invariably in USD but then YOU have to Add Extra Costs . . .  which include
. . . Freight ( Import and Local ). . . Customs Duty and Govt Charges . . . GST

MANY of the products we sell are imported from the USA or Other Countries
Freight Costs are added or have been included in our Prices . . . see Freight Costs
Prices are Quoted ex-GST - In Australia 10% GST is added to Invoice.
Exports are GST Free

  • 30 days Accounts (approved customers ONLY ) : We reserve the right to recalculate prices at Date of Payment and Credit/Debit MAY be applied to Your Account and / or added to your next Order/Invoice
  • Credit Cards Accepted VISA / Mastercard / xxxAMEXxxx
  • Discount may be offered for Quantity Orders and for special Terms at Chromalytics discretion

  • Purchase Orders are a request to Purchase.and Chromalytic reserves the right to decline an Order . . . at our discretion
  • Orders are required in writing via Fax, E-Mail. "Snail Mail" is acceptable but with reservation ! with Completer details Company Name, Street Delivery Address, Contact Details and CC Details ( if applicable )
  • Very light items are charged by Volumetric Weight ( LxWxH(cm)/6000 of the actual shipping box or by Weight whichever is greater
  • As a service to good customer we try and include light/small  items in our regular consolidated shipments to help defray exhorbitant Import Freight Rates.
  • This is NOT to be construed that Bulk Orders of such low weight items are Imported
    with NO add-on Freight Costs

Our Quotation Prices (Web Prices ) are subject to this automatic correction which is applied daily
based on the "live" USD exchange rate on that day
As of 2004  this "live" calculation slows down our Database too much so we NOW adjust XR monthly
in the meantime - ASK for a Quote !

The GST is collected by US from you on behalf of the the Government . . . at our cost !
one of the privileges of being in business is to do this "shit work" for the Feds Govt

    Most of our customers such as Govt departments, Educational Bodies Universities TAFE's, Statutary Bodies - CSIRO
     are able to claim back the GST from the Aussie Govt.
    So ! it's a No Win "bullshit" exercise for All concerned

3   IMPORT Customs Duty ( generally NOT applicable for "chromatography parts"

Generally we Import our chromatography products  FREE of CUSTOMS DUTY
Some products may still attract Duty ( 0 to 10% ) based on a literal translation of product names by Customs eg "tools" "valves" "seals" "nuts" . . . where there might be trouble distinguishing them from more mundane literal items
Duty depends on Customs Tariff Classification and the type of goods
for example TOOLS, VALVES, COMPUTERS (data system), SEALS (GC inlet seals), LINERS,
SLEEVES ( for injection systems) can have obvious "classification problems"

The Australian Government also  imposes tax on tax charges as well
Government Entry Fee, Customs Fees $35 $52.00 [ Also Airport Terminal fees by Freight Companies etc etc
This is to "protect"  jobs and Australian Industry . . . if there IS there ANY left ?

.IMPORT FREIGHT COSTS ( Chromalytic LIST Prices - normally DO NOT include freight charges )

4   SHIPPING ( NOTE  this depends on consignment weight / volume which ever is greater )

1   Consolidated Shipping at subsidised rates - may require a 2 to 3 week lead time . . . for most of our suppliers.
for certain Suppliers eg Restek : ordering on Friday pm for delivery within 3 to 5 days ( but depending on supplier stock availability )

2    URGENT - at Schedule UPS Rates Schedule Rates include an AirPort Terminal Fee / Customs
Clearance Charges    $52.00 (2004) and unfortunately a high initial minimum 1kg charge
PLUS  the "Kg Rate" ( on a sliding scale )
 see Freight costs

Shipping Times : ( 3 to 5 days transit time ) - depending on stock availability ( a 2 to 4 week production lead time may be required on "some" products ) . . . .Consumables are normally ex - stock supplier )

The Alternative ( ? ) . . .
International Air Parcel Post - usually 10 to 14 days but it is "quite variable"' - NOT generally recommended

This "may" be the most economical way if value of goods is < Aud500 as it may come straight through customs
 without any penalty - BUT the risk is yours AND parcels are UNTRACEABLE

WE Do NOT insure shipments - this insurance seems to "absolutely bog" down the Post Office system

For REGISTERED CUSTOMERS - we automatically offer the consolidated Freight Rates
. . . where we waive some of the overhead costs imposed by the shipping companies
EXCEPTION :  in the case of DANGEROUS GOODS  ( Chemical Standards etc)
As of 2005 . . . new DG goods fee of $185.00 applies ( includes first 3kg ). . .plus normal kg freight rate
@008 Dangerous Goods waives on Chemical Standards Gas Cylinders - it still applies

5   LOCAL FREIGHT ( is added to ALL sales in Australia . . . on a per shipment basis at Cost )

  • This also depends on the weight/volume of the shipment from Melbourne to you and naturally where you are in Australia ( Overnight to most Capital Cities -  2-3 days max elsewhere )

To SUMMARISE
    1.   Our Quotation Price ( Catalog DataBase Price ) is valid at that date ( of Quotation )
As far as practical we will stick to THAT price right through EXCEPT where Exchange Rate has varied more than 2% from this date to date of invoice
    2.   Freight Costs are added - For small or low weight items a "freight" surcharge may apply due to MINIMUM charges applied by Freight Companies ( and Postal Services )
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE THESE ADJUSTMENTS.AS NECESSARY
WE will substantiate ANY adjustments in ALL respects
    3.   ALL Prices for sales in Australia - are quoted exclusive of GST - GST of 10% is ADDED to Invoice Value
    4    Payment Invoice Amount will be adjusted for currency variation ( if applicable ) at Date of Invoicing
- and for 30 Day Term Accounts at Date of Payment . . . whichever is greater. ANY Difference will be added to your account
    5    Any of our Web Prices are Indicative ONLY

  • 6   EXPORT Sales ( @ CURRENT Prices . . . ask for a Quote)
    Sales of some items are subject to distributor agreement restrictions -  and also Country of Origon restrictions

We generally INVOICE in USD and are GST EXEMPT (for Exort . . . YOUR Local taxes/charges internl Freight still apply )
EXPORT FREIGHT COST are added at cost ( All inclusive Door-to-Door rates ).
Air Courier ONLY by TNT or FedEX ( at Street Cost )
