The various treatments ( ? ) - use different silica film thickness ( 0.1 to 20um ) and deactivation methods - it consists of the vapor phase deposition of a micron-sized film of fused silica onto the surface

this layer is relatively flexible and robust and will withstand high temperatures ( >450C)
- the fused silica layer passivates the metal surface against corrosion and has the ""chromatography inertness"
approaching that of fused silica glass.
For the ultimate in "GC chromatography use" the silica is further deactivated with proprietary high temperature silane deactivation
