"page served" fast & "searchable"
| - Partly historical : for general scanning of catalog pages
htm is useless, PDF was an improvement
BUT for B&W only, XIF was fairly good & they spat the dummy - obsolete !
AND also with many limitations
But the NEW DJVu format  s a BRILLIANT in comparison * ideal color scanning excellent compression for
web pages
It IS VERY time consuming rescanning pages into this new format so we have retained the older pdf, "( XIF formats obsolete ) and are gradually updating our whole site with DJVu files ( typically 30k in full color page-served and text searchable )
After all the information is important enough isn't it !
NOTE : You need the respective viewers for each of these files
and it's still probably 5 years ahead of its' time ( ie MS time )
