For over thirty years, Valco Instruments Co. Inc. (VICI) has been the leading designer and manufacturer of standard
and custom valves and fittings for precision analytical, biomedical, and biocompatible instrumentation. Our product
line also includes a wide range of related products such as pneumatic and electric actuators, tubing and sampling loops,
heated enclosures, valve sequence and temperature controllers, gas purifiers, GC detectors, and digital interfaces.
Our two position valves have from 3 to 20 ports, and can be built with pressure and temperature capabilities to
work as part of virtually any analytical technique or process application. Switching valves are available with zero
dead volume fittings for 1/32", 1/16", 1/8", or 1/4" tubing. Multiposition stream selection valves select from 4 to
26 streams, with multiple configurations allowing a variety of stream selection techniques. All of our valves can
be ordered in alloys that will withstand the most hostile environments. We are continuing the development of
our extensive Cheminert® line of high pressure and low pressure valves.
While valves can be switched manually, a pneumatic or electric actuator facilitates valve positioning and allows
the valves to be automated for unattended operation. Processes can be controlled by our digital valve sequence
programmer or stream selection module, or by a laboratory computer via our serial valve interface.
We stock a complete range of sampling loops and tubing in a variety of materials and pre-cut lengths, and we
will custom cut and bend tubing to meet your specific instrumentation plumbing requirements. Our unique
electroforming process for pure nickel tubing eliminates the scratches, pits, and voids found inside typical drawn
tubing, resulting in a highly chemically inert tubing with a mirror-like interior surface there’s no chance of any
particle shedding or oxide release. All our tubing is electrolytically cut, polished, and specially cleaned.
Every product in our fittings line is available in a wide range of sizes and an assortment of alloys and polymers.
The line begins with basic nuts and ferrules and includes unions, tees, crosses, reducers, and manifolds, with
most available in standard or bulkhead versions. Many of our fittings, like the external to internal adapters,
internal reducers, and manifold pipe thread adapters, are available nowhere else. But all of our fittings are
unique in that they have been designed for the specific demands of instrumentation and manufactured with the
tight tolerances and premium quality which the field requires.
Much of this comes together in our trace gas analyzer (TGA). This instrument uses our valves, actuators,
tubing, fittings, and detectors as part of a system which can detect impurities in the ppb range in ultra-pure gas
streams. Our TGAs have found wide acceptance in the semiconductor industry and with high purity
gas-suppliers, who use them to monitor the quality of the gas standards you probably use to calibrate your
instruments.
