Valco Injectors and Switching Valves
These two position valves operate in only two positions: Load and Inject, Position A and Position B, etc. In this catalog they are organized into GC (medium and high temperature) and HPLC sections.  
W Type valves are available for use with 1/32" or 1/16" fittings, with 0.25 mm and 0.40 mm port diameters, respectively.
-   The 0.25 mm port diameter causes less dispersion, enhancing the performance of capillary GC columns and HPLC microbore columns.
-   The 0.40 mm orifice is especially suited for megabore GC columns and analytical HPLC.
UW Type valves are similar but slightly larger, with 1/16" or 1/8" fittings and 0.75 mm port diameter.
-   The 0.75 mm ports are useful in applications where high flow rates are utilized, such as packed column GC or semi-preparative HPLC columns. 
MW Type valves have 1/4" fittings and 4.0 mm ports, most useful for applications where high throughput or minimal restriction is required.

Internal Volume Sampling Valves

Internal volume sample injectors are used when the sample size must be smaller than the volume attainable with an external loop. The internal sample "loop" is actually an engraved connecting slot on the rotor which is sized to contain a specified amount of sample. When the rotor is switched to its other position, the sample in the slot is captured and injecte~ into the column. Sample sizes are available from 0.06 ul to 0.5 ul in W type valves, and from 0.2 ul to 2.0ul in UW type valves. Pressure/temperature specifications are different from external loop valves, and are shown on each price list page.

Sample Loops
Valco sample loops are accurately sized for each valve type. The volume tolerance matches the ID tolerance of the tubing, which is typically ± 0.001" for Valco tubing. This results in a variance ranging from 20% with tubing of 0.005" diameter (0.001" is 20% of 0.005") to 2.5% for loops made from tubing 0.040" in diameter. Loops are electrolytically cut and electrochemically polished to insure square, burr-free ends, then cleaned with microfiltered steam from deionized water. Standard material is Type 316 stainless, but loops can be supplied in electroformed nickel, Hastelloy C, Nickel 200, titanium, or several polymers. Consult the factory for availability.
