Pre-Cut  Stainless Steel Tubing

Jour offers pre-cut  stainless steel tubing in lengths most commonly required in hplc systems.  These tubes are cut using electronic discharge technology to guarantee  absolutely square, burr-free ends for zero-dead volume connections. Each  tube is then passivated (overnight in 30% nitric acid) and cleaned  (ultrasonic) in methanol. Each tube is fitted with color-coded caps which  prevent contamination and indicate the id size of the tube. Each tube is  ready to use. Make it a rule to use our high quality precut tubing for all  critical connections in your hplc system. Use 0.25 mm (0.010") ID tubing  from the sample injection valve to the column and from the column to the  detector - keep them as short as possible. We recommend 0.50 mm (0.020")  or 0.75 mm (0.030") ID tubing for the transfer of the mobile phase from  the pump to the injection valve. Use smaller ID when working with a  gradient system.

Titanium  Tubing

Titanium Tubing is an  excellent alternative to stainless steel. We offer a chromatography grade  (99,5%) tubing in straight length. A good rule when using titanium is not  to use it in combination with acids because of potential cracking. Also  remember that titanium is brittle - be careful when bending the tubing.
Caution: Be  aware that use of titanium together with SS may lead to corrosion of  SS.

PEEK Tubing –  Natural

PEEK  Capillaries & Tubing

- Replaces Stainless Steel, Titanium and Tefzel  Tubing
-
Useable at up to 420 bar (6000 psi)
- Inert and Biocompatible with  unique color coding
- PEEK is 10 times less oxygen  permeable than Teflon or Tefzel and more temperature    resistant. Melting point is 350° C.
-
We recommend PEEK  fingertights and flangeless fittings for your  applications.
- Clean-Cut™ tubing cutter gives you burr-free  perpendicular cuts.
- You can now also flange PEEK capillaries using our  improved flanging tool P/N 201540.

Can  only be used for capillaries with OD 1/16" and ID 0.75 – 1.0  mm.

PEEK tubing has the  strength required to withstand continuous use at HPLC pressure without  swelling or bursting. The dense polymer structure of Jour PEEK tubing  eliminates the permeability to organic solvents that causes other polymer  tubing, such as Tefzel to "sweat". Jour PEEK tubing is color-coded two  ways for easy identification. One we call "Solid Color Coded" which means  that dye is added to the tubing when manufactured and is evenly  distributed through the entire tube for easy visibility. The other one we  call "Striped Color Coding", where only a colored stripe is added to the  OD. Use the "Striped Color Coded" where maximum chemical resistance and  biocompatibility are required. Dye never contacts the fluid stream. Use  PEEK tubing with virtually any organic or inorganic liquid. Remember PEEK  tubing is not effected by halide salts, high strength buffers or other  aggressive mobile phases that degrade stainless steel. The polymer surface  will not leach metal ions into the eluant or extract metal sensitive  components from the sample. By far the most outstanding property is its  excellent burst pressure. PEEK is compatible with almost any of the  solvents commonly used in HPLC. Methylene Chloride, THF and DMSO may cause  swelling in PEEK. Concentrated nitric and sulphuric acid will attack PEEK.  However, PEEK can safely withstand 20–30% nitric acid when passivating a  system. All our 1/16" PEEK capillaries have a tolerance of ± 0.05 mm  (0.002").

Teflon Lined  PEEK
For certain applications we have produced a teflon tubing  PEEK clad. This tubing has the strength of PEEK and total resistance  against any solvents. Contact us for details.

Ready-To-Use flanged  tubing ID 0,50 mm

Ready Flanged Tubing

- The Jour Research  ready-for-use flanged tubing for reliable connections in  your
  HPLC-system.
- Made from Tefzel or Teflon for complete  inertness.
- For your  EC-detection and bioseparation.
-
The less expensive choice for all standard and DIONEX  systems.

Metal surfaces  interfere with many ion chromatographic and biotechnical applications. By  leaching metal contaminants into the mobile phase or even absorbing sample  components the activity of biological samples can be changed drastically.  By using a metalfree environment for IC analysis and EC-detection the  baseline noise will be reduced and by this the detection sensitivity  increased.
Therefore and in order to avoid interference with your  precious samples we have consequently eliminated stainless steel in all  our tubing and accessories within the flowpath of your sample, and  replaced them with inert materials.
Jour´s flanged ready-to-use tubing  are made of your choice Teflon or Tefzel tubing, connected with two  Polypropylene fittings 1/4"-28 of the long version, which even fits  Dionex-connections, two polypropylene washers and completed with a  negative conical profile flange on both ends of the tubing. Besides our  standard lengths also custom made dimensions with 1/8"-tubing are offered.  We welcome all inquiries on dimensions not listed.

Tefzel (ETFE) tubing  has some outstanding properties which makes it particularly suitable for
HPLC since it has a higher burst pressure when compared to Teflon.
The  most common dimension is 1/16" x 0.25 mm which will withstand up to 210  bar (3000 psi)
using water as mobile phase.
It is important, however, to note that when using Tefzel with organic solvents it may swell and we  recommend
a max. pressure of 70 bar (1000 psi) using organic solvents.
Tefzel is the ideal polymer with regard to corrosion from chloride  salts, which typically corrode stainless steel
but not  Tefzel.

Teflon & Teflon like Tubing

PTFE  Tubing
Teflon tubing is chemically inert and suitable for lower  pressure applications. Typically 1/16" OD tubing holds to 70 bar (1000  psi) and 1/8" to 35 bar (500 psi).
We recommend our Teflon up to a  temperature of 80° C. We can also supply our Teflon tubing color coded to  make it easier to identify the ID and to differentiate between the  streams. Our unique process when adding color is your guarantee that there  is no leaching - color permanence is ensured.

Black PTFE  Tubing
Remember that Teflon is translucent and for certain light  sensitive applications we recommend to use black Teflon tubing.
So far  we recommend it for…
– Light sensitive enzymatic reactions
–  Luminescent reactions
– Connections for the flow-cell
–  Radioactive HPLC.
We recommend FEP (Teflon) for ion chromatography  applications

FEP  Tubing
FEP is a Fluorinated Ethylene Polypropylene and is chemically inert to most HPLC solvents and is  recommended for low pressure applications. Typically 1/16" OD holds to 140  bar (2000 psi) and 1/8" holds to 70 bar (1000 psi).
Our standard FEP  tubing is extruded to a tolerance of not less than ± 0.05 mm (0.002") and  the 1/8" to a tolerance of ± 0.10 mm (0.004"). We do not recommend using  FEP tubing above 80° C.

PFA  Tubing
PFA tubing is latest to our line of fluoropolymers with  excellent chemical stability and mechanical strength. Always use PFA  instead of PTFE if gas permeability is the issue.
